Our Students

TMRP DTP students care about doing research that actually makes a difference. They come from all kinds of backgrounds — statistics, data science, health economics, epidemiology, psychology, computing and more — but share one goal: making clinical trials smarter, fairer, and more useful for real people.

As part of a wider trials methodology community, they work across disciplines, swap ideas, join specialist groups, and learn from researchers across the network. It’s not just about earning a PhD — it’s about building the skills, confidence, and connections to shape the future of how health research is done. Student Projects

TMRP DTP student projects explore the methods that make clinical trials more reliable, efficient, and relevant to the people they aim to help. Projects span areas such as innovative trial design, statistical methods, data science and digital health, health economics, patient and public involvement, and improving how outcomes are measured and reported.

TMRP DTP Student Alumni Group

Our TMRP DTP alumni are an important part of our community long after their PhD ends. We expect that they will go on to roles in academia, healthcare, industry, policy, and beyond — applying trials methodology skills to real-world challenges and continuing to shape how health research is designed and delivered.

The alumni group keeps those connections alive. It’s a space to share opportunities, collaborate on new ideas, offer mentoring to current students, and stay linked into the TMRP network. Whether they’re leading studies, developing new methods, or influencing practice, our alumni remain part of the same mission: improving clinical trials to improve health.
