ICTMC 2026: Student Report

We are absolutely delighted to share with you some of the highlights of this year’s International Clinical Trials Methodology Conference (ICTMC) which was held in the lovely city of Birmingham from 14-17 September 2026.

It was great to get back to some much-needed networking, sharing ideas and learning from each other. The presentations and posters at the conference covered such a wide range of topics in clinical trials methodology, so it was great to see so many different areas represented.

Picking out the highlights for our student special newsletter wasn’t an easy task, but here are some of our favourite bits from ICTMC 2026 for you to enjoy!

DTP student presentations

Many of our DTP students had the opportunity to showcase their research through oral and lightning talk presentations at ICTMC. The conference provided a valuable platform to share their latest findings and ideas, engage with researchers from across the field, and build new connections within the wider research community.

Keynote speakers

This year’s programme featured two fantastic keynote speakers, alongside the prestigious Doug Altman Memorial Lecture. The sessions drew a fantastic audience, with the auditorium packed for each talk!

Prize Winners

The conference this year had some excellent prize winners, whose engaging and informative presentations inspired us all. You can see the full list of winners below.

Workshops

This year, ICTMC hosted 16 fantastic workshops covering a diverse range of topics across clinical trials methodology. From core outcome sets and pilot and feasibility studies to adaptive clinical trials, AI and economic evaluation, the programme offered plenty of opportunities to explore new ideas, share expertise and spark discussion.

Conference Party

The conference party this year was a blast. We were able to network and meet new people over drinks, nibbles and a wonderful band.

ICTMC through the years…

From Harrogate to Edinburgh and Birmingham, ICTMC has continued to bring the trials methodology community together across the UK. The next stop is Glasgow in 2028 – we hope to see you there!
