The TMRP DTP Flexible Supplement Fund is available to all students who have been awarded studentships with the DTP. This scheme has been established using block funding by the MRC and can help fund a wide range of research and training activities.

The MRC have allocated funds to support additional research, training and development costs. These funds can be used flexibly to support:
- High cost training in recognised areas of strategic need such as quantitative, interdisciplinary or in vivo skills;
- Exceptional training opportunities such as overseas fieldwork, time ‘out of a programme’ to complete a complementary and beneficial placement, or training in new advanced research skills;
- Opportunities to provide training with industry or at the interdisciplinary interface;
- Transitions from PhD to first post-doc positions to increase the competitiveness of outstanding candidates.
ELIGIBILITY
All current TMRP DTP students are eligible to apply for the Flexible Supplement Fund. The funds are limited to £5,000 per studentship and will be awarded competitively. You must first discuss your application with your lead supervisor prior to applying.
The Flexible Supplement will open three application rounds each year.
The first will open on the 1st October and close on 31st October An academic panel will review all applications to this round in the final week of November.
The second will open on 1st March and close on 31st March. An academic panel will review all applications to this round in the final week of April.
The third will open on 1st May and close on 1st June. An academic panel will review all applications to this round in final week of June.
