Student Health and Wellbeing Support from the DTP

As a DTP we place health and wellbeing of our students as a high priority. We know that undertaking a PhD can be an exciting and fulfilling project, but we also understand that it can be stressful, and at times isolating. You will find lots of support for your health and wellbeing in your local institutions, which you can read more about here.

In addition to this, the DTP offers support for students outside of the local institutional structures to give students a chance to speak about their progress informally, have any queries answered and raise any issues or concerns.

Check-Ins

As a DTP student, you can expect to receive an informal email once every three months relating to your general health and wellbeing. This consists of three general questions to ask yourself to check-in. The aim here is to ask you to take the time to think about your own health and wellbeing, and to remind you of the support that you are able to access should you need it.

Coffee Mornings

As well as the self check-ins every three months, you are also strongly encouraged to meet individually with the DTP Manager online once every six months. This will be an informal meeting to discuss anything to do with your studentship. Bring along a coffee and chat informally about your research, field trips, conferences or anything else related to the DTP. This will be a good way to raise any concerns or issues, talk through any plans or ask any questions. The DTP Manager will be in touch to schedule these meetings, which will usually be held on Zoom.

As well as these check-ins and coffee mornings you are also able to contact the DTP Manager, Kerrie McGiveron with any concerns day-to-day kerriemc@liverpool.ac.uk.
