Azar Alexander-Sefre,TMRP DTP student based at the University of Aberdeen, presented her research poster “To what extent does intersctionality affect health inequalities and outcomes: a scoping review” at HSR UK Conference earlier this month.
Speaking about her research, Azar commented, “Clinical trials need to be representative of the people in society they intend to benefit. A lot of effort is currently being made in this area, with the term intersectionality commonly mentioned. However we are still a long way from understanding how it impacts health and what we can do as researchers to apply intersectionality appropriately to trials. The goal of this scoping review is to provide a firmer understanding of how intersectionality affects health outcomes, with the goal of informing the next stage of my wider project.”
